لما كان توجه العالم المعاصر نحو التكنولوجيا ومع الانتشار الواسع للمباني الحديثة والاليات والخدمات والوسائل المرتبطة بها، فأن ذلك ادى الى زيادة كبيرة في استهلاك الطاقة والوقود وما تبعها من انبعاثات غازات الاحتباس الحراري والتلوث نتيجة حرق الوقود الأحفوري وبالتالي ما يسمى بالتغير المناخي. ومن أجل تقليل الطلب المتزايد بسرعة على الطاقة وحماية البيئة، وتحقيق التكافؤ المستدام بين الطلب والانتاج فمن الضروري تطوير المباني وتحسين أداء عناصر البناء والاستفادة من مصادر الطاقة المتجددة والنظيفة مثل الشمس والريح والماء والتقنيات الخضراء المختلفة. وانا بصفتي استاذ جامعي وباحث اكاديمي فان اهتمامي ينصب في مجال الحفاظ على الطاقة والبيئة واستخدام الطاقة المتجددة بشكل عام واستخدام المواد العازلة بشكل خاص. وقد كانت لي العديد من المنشورات والمحاضرات في هذا المجال وكذلك عدة مشاركات في الفعاليات والانشطة العلمية ذات العلاقة داخل وخارج العراق.
